    Default Thompson, Guilford and Bowle-Evans

I am searching for my and my wifes families (Thompson and Guilford). The Thompson's are difficult as we have so little information and I am not even completely sure of the surname as they changed it sometime after 1916.

The Guilfords are easier and I can go back to the 1700's before it gets difficult but we are winning with that one.

Bowle-Evans, their name changed from Evans in 1902, Rev Henry Evans owned Byletts, in Pembridge and was the Minister at St Margrets Westminster. I have a lot of data on the family but what I am really looking for is John Lawrence Bowle-Evans born 23rd Feb 1914 in Simon's Town SA and his sister Stephanie Bowle-Evans born 23 Aug 1915 also in Simon's Town and their Mother Katharine Mary Cicely (Cecily). These are the wife and children of Cmd. Stephen Bowle-Evans RN 1876 - 1918.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Frank

    Hello there

I've done quite a lot of research on the Bowle, later Bowle-Evans family, and was at the National Archives, at Kew in the UK, last week looking for further information about Stephen. I photographed a copy of his Navy service, but have not yet had a chance to decipher it. I'd already looked at the ship's log for the Hyacinth and the medical log for the period prior to his death, but neither had any reference to him. I have a copy of his obituary in S.A., and know the names of his wife, Katherine Mary Cecily Lawrence (& back for 2 generations) their two children, and a few sparse details about them.

I'd asked Google to inform me of any Bowle family references it finds, & a link to your posting was waiting when I came home from work tonight.

I've joined this site in order to reply to you, but have yet to explore the best way to use it.

I hope we can exchange more information, but I know nothing about any Thompson or Guilford family members.

    Happy hunting
