Hi all
Hi,
I'm Adam, I'm in Upholland, near Wigan in Lancashire and I'm researching primarily my Father's side of the family, which means I'm hunting down lots of Shorts, Finigans, Roberts, Greigs, Gages, Ganes, Monks, Robinsons, Gardners and other assorted people. I recently discovered a 2nd cousin I didn't know I had and I've been spurred on to do much more research into my family and where it comes from. The current best bet is somewhere around the Scottish border, via the isle of Sheppey, London, Liverpool and Sunderland. If anyone recognises anything above, feel free to talk to me about it. I have a fairly extensive tree already, but I'd really like to take it back a bit further (well, a lot further if I'm honest!). My earliest known ancestor is John Gane, born in Kent in 1710, but the paternal Short line gets difficult to trace around 1838. Anyone with any insight into related families in the area around Coldstream at that time would have my eternal gratitude if they could help me figure it out. |
