    Just thought I'd say Hello

Looking forward to doing some research, well I say looking forward to it I know it's going to be a long hard slog but it should be fun.

Researching Grandparents on my Fathers side: JOYCE / RANACRE

Grandparents on my Mothers side: Whyte / Mills

    all in Manchester (I think)

Please don't get upset if I bombard the message board with questions

    Thanks

Thanks for all the Welcome messages.

I'm doing really well at the moment Thanks to all the help from 'MIGKY' who is an absolute star.

I've got a couple of Head Stones to look at this weekend, which, fingers crossed will give me some dates and other info. Also bought some credits for the 1911 census which has given me some great info. I think I've got the bug now and want to know everything. Do we really have to wait till January 2022 for the 1921 Census?

HI Barrie, Yes you will have to wait for the 2022. It is all down to the 100 year ruling, but just because you can't access that until then. You can do a lot more research especially with you living within the Greater Manchester area. You have Manchester central library. There local studies section contains many resources, such as old news papers/directories from the early 1800's to 1969. If you are lucky maybe some of the people you are researching are in them? There is also a brilliant collection of local images. The electoral roll. I could live in there got half the chance. Next is Greater Manchester county records office. Thats just like an Aldin's cave that place once you find out what they have to offer. Another great place to visit and do a little reseach at is the Jon Rylands Library, i have found a few records/documents from there and the staff are really helpfull. So you don't have to site and wait till 2022, there is plenty to do inbetween D
