    Default chrisg

    Hi,

I am a new member & new to Genealogy. I am currently researching my relative William German, although it could be spelt, Jarman/Jarmin/Jermin/Jermyn/Jarmyn......he was born c1770 in Suffolk (Stow I think) he married Esther Hubbard & they had 2 children,Mary Ann & Charles William. William died 13-2-1846. There are so many places you can go to "find" your ancesters, all of which you have to pay for results. How do you know that, that particular site will have the information you are looking for?

    Hi Chris,

Welcome to Ancestry Aid, i hope we will beable to help wherever we can.

There are many boards for you to have a look through but you may need time to get through them all.

I would just like to say i see that you are just a registered member and not a premium so that will restrict you from posting what help you need, i dont know whether you have looked at any other forums yet but we will be going back to a free site at the end of may.

So keep your eye open for that.

    Good luck with your research

    Kelly

    Welcome to AA Chrisg,

As Kelly has said we are shortly to become a free site once again so then you will be able to post a request on the "Request Help" board and hopefully get the results you want and it will all be for free.

How do you know that if you pay for a subscription you will get results. There are so many of these sites on the net now?

    Hi Chrisg

Sorry for the late welcome, very nice to see you

    As regards results

A lot of our members have a lot of information regarding family history, for example Census records, parish records, bIrth Marriage and death records

But as Kelly has already pointed out we are soon to become a free site, so nothing will change we will all still be here to help out where ever we can, Hopefully with any requests that you might need.

A lot of us have our own resources, which enable us to be of help to other members.

Then we have the 1841 census which is ongoing, new records added weekly

We have our tree maker, where you may find people interseted in thenames you have in your tree, as well as Vital records, which are submitted by our members.

Then we have Names of interest that you can add to, to see if there is anyone else researching the same names.

Maybe these are yours from 1841

Esther German abt 1781 birth place not recorded Living Witham Essex

Wm German abt 1776 birth place not recorded Living Witham Essex

Bearing in mind ages were rounded up to the nearest 5 years in 1841

    Hoping that answers your query

    Regards

    Shan

Again welcome to AA, look forward to seeing you on site or in chat

Hi Chrisg. A very warm welcome to AA. As the others have said, we may have resources that you require. Kelly has highlighted what we have to offer and at the end of the month we revert to a free site so hang in there and use the facilities.

Once again a very warm welcome to AA
