Thread: Smiths Staffordshire/India

Hello from Australia, looking for Smiths, word of mouth is they came from Stratfordshire (which I believe is now part of Staffordshire) earliest one is Charles Henry born around 1860, next we have him in India 1880 where he married Rebecca Tristram and had sons Charles Henry Samuel, Walter Charles and Hedley Henry Vicars Smith. Any help gratefully seized, Liz

G'day,

Just as a point of interest,Stratford isn't a part of Staffs;There's a district of London,near Greenwich by that name.Otherwise,Stratford-on-Avon,in Warwicks is nearest.

Good luck trying to trace a name like Smith,although Stratford-on-Avon has many historical connections which may help.
