Brenda I have a lot of family history in the Penrith, St Mary's, Emu Plains area. My GG Grandfather had the 4th Pub in St Mary's. That is the Cummins family. The Rigney family ran the punt at Emu Plains before the bridge was built. And the Grandstand at Penrith Showground is named after my 2nd Cousin Maurice Renshaw. His Grandmother was my Great Grand Aunt. Consequently I am related to most of the old families in the area as well as Windsor area all the way up to Maitland and out to Bathurst, Dubbo and Orange. Far too many to name as my tree now has around 78,000 individuals. I am at Riverstone.

Wow, you certainly have a vast family index
My family originated from Thomas Arndell, who came out with the first fleet. His daughter Mary Louisa Arndell married my great ( x6 ) grandfather John lakeland in Hobart, and it is his family I am researching. He came to NSW as Private Secratary to Governor Macquarie, and was appointed Provost Marshall & Suprintendent of Convicts in Tasmania. There is little if anything on his background other than that, although he was nephew to James Gordon in Tasmania, who also married a daughter of Thomas Arndell. I cant find what ship he came on......possibly on the same ship as Gov. Macquarie which was the 'Dromedary' in 1809. You know, what saddens me is the lack of any memorobilia from the early days, which would give some insight to the people they were. letters, photos, journals, these were all thought of as rubbish in later generations and were disposed off.....a crying shame to those of us who are looking to 'know' their ancestors.Cheers, Brenda |

Thomas Arndell came to Australia on the ship Friendship on 26 January 1788 Free. Thomas Arndell was the first civillian officer to receive a land grant according to research. Thomas's wife was Elizabeth Burley (Burleigh) c 1807. Elizabeth came on the Lady Penrhyn on 26 January 1788 Convict. There is quite a bit of information about them in the Hawkesbury Pioneer Registers which I am happy to pass on. I am sending a pm.
