This is my first posting, so hopefully it is going to the right place. Have only been doing research since December 2007, however have managed to garner much information on both sides of my family.
My two main research names are 'Langlois', my surname and 'Coates', my mother's maiden name.
The Langlois clan I have found so far date back to early 1700's in London to a French Huguenot family - father Daniel with children Anne, Izaac, Gedeon, Pierre and Henry. Pierre Langlois subsequently becoming a renowned 'ebeniste' French cabinet-maker, his furniture now worth a fortune. It can be found a number of internet auction sites and much of it is displayed in museums and stately homes in the UK.
My main other research name is 'Coates'. To date I have managed to extend it back to Henry (Samuel Henry) Coates born in 1820 in Syresham, Northamptonshire, son of Thomas Coates and Catherine. Henry married a Charlotte West in 1842. Charlotte was the daughter of William West and Ann Spencer.
Anyway, enough for my first post. I live in a lovely place called Sunnybank which is stuated on the southside of Brisbane, in sunny Queensland, Australia.
Regards to all
