Thread: Genealogy it's all relative, mcblondie (family name Palokas)

Just found this new forum thought i'd drop by and see if anyone can help me or I can help anyone...



I'm in Loch Lomond Scotland, I've been tracing my family tree for quite a few years now, on my Scottish side i've gotten very far, but my grandfather on my paternal side was Lithuanian and came here to Scotland around 1910 as many of them did in those days. He worked in the coal mines, married a local girl from Blantyre and had a large family. I haven't been able to find out too much regarding my Lithuanian roots but I'm slowly getting there.



The family name is Polockus, although thats been corrupted over many years due to registrars and authorities mis-spelling or them putting down what they heard (phonetically). My proper family name is Palokas or Paliokas and hopefully with more digging I will be able to find out more.
