I am Pauline44's sister living in New Zealand, so she does most of the donkey work on finding Joseph James Minett. Our grandfather, JJ's son, knew what had happened to him, but wouldn't tell anyone , as JJ had been "a disgrace to the family", which could mean anything from being divorced, to comitting a serious crime. However, JJ's father left his will in favour of JJ's wife for her exclusive use, so he had obviously blotted his copybook big time. Grandfather could just remember his father leaving home, so he would have gone around 1889ish. Grandfather said he would tell our mother what had happened when on his deathbed, but died suddenly after a prostate operation, and had no chance to tell anyone anything !!
Not our family, but if there is anyone who can prove their relationship to Elizabeth Burr, who was a lacemaker (in Bedfordshire probably), please contact me.
