G`day all

i`m a newbie here trying to research my family tree.

its a different story for me (well maybe not), i work hard, support my family and have little left after all the bills, i was talking about doing this and my darling wife said that we couldnt afford it because it always costs at "those" sites...

well never one to back down from a challenge i decided to see what i could find for free, i was given a couple of programs for compiling my family tree by a teacher friend of mine, but she said she would not help any further as her research sites were pay sites (voiding my challenge), i tried to convince her if she told me for nothing then that is free (no go, damned teachers lol)

OK enough drivel, i have managed to get some thin information on my family through the internet and various library research (parents, grandparents etc all dead sadly)but i get stuck at several points, it seems my family has two main origins, cornwall and lancashire, but few records are available to me due to the self imposed restrictions of my search...

i really want to show my pessamistic wife that you can still do (relatively important) things on the net for free.

Welcome to Ancestry Aid. I hope you enjoy the site and have success with your tree. We have a lot of friendly members willing to lend a hand. Just post any interests or requests for search in the relevant forums. With help from others researching your tree can be done quite cheaply. There will be occassions when you will need to buy a certificate of two to confirm you are following the right family.

i would post my tree but the tree pages seem to be down right now, i`m still fairly new at all this so i feel a little rude asking for help if i cant offer anything, hopefully the tree pages will be up soon and i`ll post what i have

Welcome to Ancestry Aid. Just do a few searches on your wifes family and I bet she soon gets addicted too!

Please ask for as much as you need - those of us who do look-ups do it because we enjoy it (and the last 2 searches I did - one took 30 seconds and the other several hours but neither cost a penny!)
