Thread: barham mystery

hi all

I have a mystery about the barham side of my family tree ,could anyone help me sort it out before i go crazy i seem to be going around in circles and getting nowhere. i will try and explain how the mystery has come about first. I talk to 5 other people who are doing the barham family we have never met yet our trees are the same then another person came along and threw in another group of barhams connected through marriage but i cant work out how because it would mean my 4 x great grandfather had 2 wives. the first wife couldnt have died because she had their last child two years after he married his second wife . something is not right yet we both have paper work to support what we say. has anyone got any ideas, the dates below are correct and so are the names of the parents,



the man is my 4 x great grandfather robert barham b1767- d 1842.



his grandparents.......arthur barham b 1693 and elizabeth cruttenden b 1695

his parents...............thomas barham b 1726 and elizabeth cutbart b 1730



robert married elizabeth puxty b 1755 they had 7 children 5 boys 2 girls.their last child was born in 1789.



now i have been told that his wife was mary mepham and they married in 1787 and they had 1 child called robert.



some thing must be muddled somewhere because my 3 x great grandfather is roberts son and he was the last born and his name was arthur. i cant work it out .

if anyone has any ideas i would be very interested to hear them

Is Robert (4xGt Gdad) birth date an error?? that would make him only 22 when his 7th child was born...possible I know.....lol....just wondered

I've just had a look on IGI and a Robert Barham married a Mary Mepham in 1787...which would make this Robert aged 20 at marriage. The IGI also lists the same birth and death dates for this Robert as for the Robert whos parents are Thomas & Elizabeth.



Have you (or any of your contacts) checked the actual Parish Registers?



Although the IGI is a very useful tool...it does have its mistakes

i did say i was getting in a muddle lol when i read your first email it did make my laugh and it was a much neded laugh lol i thank you for that . i am going to check around and see if it is the correct birth date i doubt it somehow because i have the dob of his first child as 1777 that makes him 10 years old , i think i will go into a corner and scream loudly and then start again and se if i get it right

if i can stop laughing i know i do daft things but that is crazy i must remember not to tell me kids lol lol
