    Default What's in a name?

Hi everyone. Please could anyone advise me on a name that i have been searching? I have been searching for Mary ann Spencer/ late Lloyd formerly Webster, the problem i'm having is which part of the name do i do a search on (i.e. Mary ann Spencer, Mary ann Lloyd or Mary ann Webster.) Does the Lloyd name mean she has been married/divorced before or widowed? Many thanks beebs.

    Hi Beebs

As Mary Ann married Mr Spencer when her surname was Lloyd...the Lloyd could indicate her 1st marriage (either widowed or divorced) and Webster should be her birth/maiden name

Depends what records you are looking for as to which name you search!?!

    Good Luck

    Hi Beebs,

Her first husband would have died.

    Hi Beebs

This could possibly be her first marriage - Mary Ann Webster to Robert Charles Lloyd - Burton 6b 627 June quarter 1902

There are a couple of possible births too but if you buy the Lloyd/Spencer marriage certificate it will give Mary Ann's age which should help

Or maybe you know when and/or where Mary Ann died?

Hi Gillian, thanks for your reply. If i buy a certificate, can i purchase it from a rejistrar in my home town and order one from there? Also which would be the most detailed certificate for me to get and any idea on cost? In the mean time i'll browse through the sites and see what comes up on the leads you gave me. Thanks for your time and effort. Best wishes beebs.

    Hi beebs

Best method I have found is to order online http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/certificates - cost £7 - you get a copy of the original marriage certificate - which would normally include date & place of marriage/ names of couple, addresses, ages, occupations/names & occupations of fathers/names of witnesses
