Thread: scottish birth look up

hi



im looking for the birth of a catherine curran ( it may be recorded as corrans or currans)

her father is peter and mother is elizabeth, her birth would be about 1853 in main st, Whithorn, Wigtownshire, im hoping to aplly for her birth certificate so any help would be a bonus

I can't find a Catherine born in Wigtown. Statutory Register of Births did not start until 1855 in Scotland so you would not be able to get a birth cirtificate for her if born in 1853.

its possible the year is out by a few years as i am only going off census returns, and i know how accurate they can be !! lol, anyway it was worth a go



what i was trying to do was find the fathers place of birth, i was hoping it would appear on one of childrens birth certificates, so i went for the youngest, just my luck she was born a couple years before the records started, it was a long shot anyway

I looked too but couldn't find any signs of the birth (any date) either. Could you post the names of any of the other children?
