Hi Debjane1,
Have you checked the links and tips forum ? If you put " Australia" in search this forum which can be found at the top right of the forum you will find a few.
Only Victoria made it compulsory to register shipping from 1853.
If they landed in Perth or Sydney then you may find no records in Austalia.
British Maritime records a National Archieves are not complete.
Your best bet is go to the State Library in Melbourne. Go to the genealogy section and become a member (free and yu can then access some records from home).
You can then use the library's computers access ancestry.com for free etc.
All the Victorian shipping records are on computer. If you find the folio numbers then go to the PRO in Melbourne and pull and photocopy the microfiche of the ships log. If they are not in records chances are they landed at Sydney, you wouldn't walk from Perth.
You did remember to check ASSISTED and UNASSISTED LISTS? Finally check TASMANIAN records to see that they weren't CONVICTS!
I used to live in Melbourne, email me on philliprode@hotmail.com I may be able to assist you more as I spent some time searching the library before everything went elctronic (OH THE PAIN OF VIEWING MICROFICHE!)
