Default Burton on trent information needed.

Hi to everyone. I'm a new member and i need some help/information please in tracing my family and their residence. My mother's name was Dorothy may spencer, (born on 16th December, 1922.) She was born at Brook street, Burton on trent, England, and died in 1989 in dudley west midlands. Her father was Arthur spencer,(birth date not known) he was a labourer at Burton breweries. Her mother was Mary anne spencer,( late Lloyd, formerly Webster, birth date not known) My mother had a brother Walter spencer, a sister Elizabeth (or betty) spencer, and possibly a second brother Jim spencer. I have recently been to Burton on trent and the street my mother was born at ( Brook street, Burton on trent, England) has been demolished and is now a roadway that runs beside the Coors Brewery. I have tried various sources but have not had much luck. Any information/help would be very much appreciated. Thanks to you all. beebs.

    Hi beebs

I'm not completely clear what exactly you are hoping to find but here is the reference for Arthur & Mary Ann's marriage in case you haven't got it. If you order the certificate it should give the name's of their fathers and help you to trace back

June quarter 1919 Burton 6 b 915 marriage Arthur Spencer to Mary A Lloyd

Hi Gillian, thanks for taking the time to reply and your efforts in helping me with my request. The information you gave me on the marraige of my mother's mother and father i didn't have. I only have my mother's marraige certificate which stated her address, mother's name and father's name and occupation. Since you gave me the info, i have now found my mother's birth, and the marraige of her mother and father, that you looked up for me. I have been struggling to find anything on Brook street, Burton on trent, but i will keep on trying. Thanks so much for pointing me in the right direction, i'm sure i will get the hang of it. Best wishes beebs.

    Hi Beebs

I am also researching my family history and My Aunt used to live in Brook Street Burton and i remember the street very well indeed . I am currently trying to find a photograph of the street and when i do i will let you have a copy.

I do recall that the Salvation army citidel use to be in Brook street as well and there was an Iron Bridge at the far end of the street which was a dead end street . The bridge crossed the railway between brook street and Derby street

My relations name was Nancy and george Woodfield

    I will be in touch

    Regards

Hi David. Thank you for your reply. My family were the Spencer's , they lived at number 6, Brook Street, Burton. This is where my mother was born in 1922. When did your family live there? I would be grateful if you could let me know if you find any photographs of the street as i have been browsing the internet with not much luck. I will do the same for you if i find anything. I look forward to hearing from you. Teresa.
