Thread: Looking for marriage Latue/Booth

I'm looking for a marriage between Margaret Jane Latue born South Hylton, Co.Durham in 1847 and Joseph Booth born Lime House London around 1847. Their first child was born 1875. I have found a baptism for Andrew Booth, parent's given as Joseph and Margaret (Latue). Can find Margaret and Joseph on a couple of census but can find no marriage and no birth for Margaret. Hoping I'm right and Margaret Jane really was a Latue!

Had a look and on the 1881 census found Joseph Booth and Magaret with 4 children all girls don't know where Andrew fitted in. Found a marriage for Joseph Booth 1869 to Margaret Davidson in Chester-le Street, Durham Found a bith record for Margaret Davidson 1847 South Sheilds Durham.

Don't know whether this will tie in to the rest of your tree but may give you a starting point.

I am really confused here!

I thought (from previous searches) that Joseph Booth married Margaret Jane Outterside (1/1869 Sunderland)

You then found a second marriage for this Joseph as Joseph Latue Booth (2/1894 Sunderland).

Joseph appears on 1851 in Limehouse Middlesex with parents Joseph senior & Margaret. It is presumably this couple where Margaret is probably a Latue.

In 1861 the family include an Andrew then age 6 - is this the one where you have the birth certificate?

So you are looking for a marriage between Joseph Booth (senior) and Margaret (probably Latue) around 1842 (eldest child on census b 1843)???

Or have you got some new information?? Where and when was Andrew born?

I am confused too - but I have Joseph Booth widowed on one census - 10 years later it is Margaret who is widowed so think I've been following the wrong family. Margaret gives her birthplace as South Hylton and Margaret Outterside was born Durham - Lanchester - miles away.Trouble is all the Joseph Booths seem to have married Margarets and all the children named the same. But I think Joseph Latue was the son of the the Joseph born in Lime House and his mother Margaret I am sure is Margaret Latue. I don't have a birth certificate as yet but have just sent for one of the children's to ascertain for sure mother's name.

Even more confused now - how on earth you people find answers so quick and sort out families beats me. I have found most if not all of Joseph Booth and Margaret Jane's children had the middle name of Latue,so am sure I'm on the right track - Margaret Jane died in 1889.



Wish you could look at birth certs online - but that would be too easy.

Hi Chrissa - yes agreed Joseph's parents are Joseph b Limehouse & Margaret probably Latue born Durham Lanchester. You said you already had a baptism for Andrew confirming her name?

Joseph junior I am sure married Margaret Jane Outterside - she was born South Hylton (1861 census - b S Hylton 1847 residence Ford Durham)

No no birth cert - i found a baptism for Andrew, date was wrong but phone call to the church confirmed the date online wasn't the correct date. Unfortunately no marriage in the records and no further mention of family. I can find a marriage for Joseph junior but his wife is apparently Margaret Booth! Also found a marriage for Margaret Outterside - but no groom. Think I'm going to resume lookingfor my family - leave hubby's family to fend for itself!



Thank you for all your help, at least I know I'm not totally crazy!

The match isn't on FreeBMD but if you look at BMD on Ancestry you will find they have the same reference!

Trust me!!!

If you look at your previous thread (just before Xmas) you already have this

The one you are looking at in 1894 is his second marriage after Margaret Outterside died.

Thank you Gillian - really having trouble sorting this family out! My own family was bad enough, full of Georges and Williams but at least all their wives had different names!
