    Default Confused. HELP!

Good Morning all. I have been awake all night doing more research but now I have been trying to work out this relationship:-

    1881 Census

Hannah M Walker married Isaac J Hesford they have a son named William H Parrot. I can't make out why he would have a different surname.

William was a witness at my nan's wedding and it looks like Isaac Hesford was the brother of Ellen Hesford who was a farm servant to my gt gt grandfather... fascinating stuff

    Hi Pauline

Isaac & Hannah didn't marry until Sep Qtr 1876...so assumption would be that William Parrott was born out of wedlock but she gave him his biological fathers name.

    Ooops fancy...not checking that out!

Yep Lauriemac is correct..William Herbert is the son of Rachel E Walker and William RUshton Parrott!

On the 1881 he is staying with his Nan...Hannah Walker...and because Isaac & Hannah are listed as her son in law and daughter...we have assumed that William is Hannahs son

On 1881 William & Rachel have another 6 kiddies.....2 of these are living with William H Parrot(born 1870) on the 1901....and listed as his brothers

ALthough Rachel is the wife on 1881...by 1891 William Rushton is married to Hannah...and only Jesse Ellen (b.1880) is living with them

Eek ...we all know not to assume.... so why does we do it?!?!

    lol

    Good Luck Pauline

    Hi Lauriemac and Lozz.

Thank you for putting the record straight . Now I can ammend my records accordingly. History does have an habit of repeating itself .....But obviously not in this case.

Hi lauriemac, Yes that's true. I have never found anything so addictive as family research. I'm sure somewhere along the line I'm gonna find a few skeletons in the cupboard.
