    Hi Margaret

I've had a good look too & I can't see anything likely. Could she have been born under another name do you think?

On the MC - what address does Jean give, what is father Henry's job (and is he shown as deceased), what are the names of the witnesses?

I spent a long time trying to find my Grandmother's birth in 1898 and I knew the exact date and where she was born (Chelsea). Much later I told my Uncle that I couldn't find it on the GRO list and he told me she had never been registered, My Grandfather died in 1963 and my uncle went with my Grandmother to register his death (also in Chelsea) my Grandmother asked for a copy of her birth certificate and was eventually told she had never been registered. In those days when people had babies without help they were fined for a late registration but possibly there were no records of babies being born as there is now. I had to get her younger sister's certificate to check the parents names. I can't find an entry for my Grandmother's eldest sister so possibly she was never registered either. I can't understand why my Grandmother couldn't be added to the GRO list even at that late time. My uncle told me that she asked the registrar how she could prove she existed and his reply was "because you are standing in front of me". My Grandparents had a marriage certificate and my Grandmother's death was registered but how did she live her whole life without needing to show her birth certificate

Good Luck with your search Heather

I did a first name search for Jeannes in 1901 & 2 - there really aren't that many & none of them look likely. Let me know if you want their details.

There is a marriage which looks interesting -

Henry Langford 2/1908 Epsom 2a 36 to Ada Barbara Bines or Nellie Walker (clutching at straws I'm afraid!)

Do you have a death for Jeanne which would confirm her date of birth?

Searched 1939-1943 - can't find her (of course). A Jeanne Parsons in 1940 but she is 56.

Do you have an approximate date of birth for William?
