Thread: Advice Needed Please

I have a problem with my paternal grandmother. Her birth name was Annie Chambers, she married my grandfather Hubert Wells in Birmingham, England in 1908 (I have the certificate)



On the certificate she gives her age as 22, her fathers name as Joseph Chambers, and his trade as steelworker. There were 2 children of the marriage, my father Ernest Hubert Wells, and my aunt, Alice Maud Wells (I have both birth certificates.) Alice Maud was born in 1913, and shortly after her birth Annie is supposed to have died.



I am now going round in circles. I cannot find an Annie Chambers born c1886 with a father named Joseph on any census, and have not been able to find a death registration for Annie either. Both my father and my aunt are deceased so cannot help, but my father did say in the past, that when he was a young boy, he came home to find his mother dead in the kitchen.



Where do I go from here?

Just a thought Brummieboy, have you checked Scottish records? There's quite a few Annie Chambers born around the right time on the Scottish 1891 and 1901. I don't have access to Scotland's People to check these for you.

There is an Annie Chambers with father Joseph born 23/05/1884 Bridgeton, Glasgow, Lanark. Mother Margaret nee McKenzie. The image is very poor. I cannot work out the Street name, time of birth or Joseph's occupation.
