    Default At A Loss

    Hi Guys.

Looking for info on James Heathcote born Mar 1849 Romiley Cheshire and his brother Edward born Dec 1850

    also Romiley.

I did find one James Heathcote in the 1881 Census living in a lodging house..Occupation Unemployed Hatter. I would have thought he to would have been a farmer seeing that his dad was a farmer. Or have I missed something?

Don't know where Edward skidaddled to either

    Hi Pauline,

Edward does seem to be on the census returns, on the later ones with his wife Eliza and children, however I've had no success with James.

Hi Gillian. No I hadn't got them... That's very much appreciated, thankyou It matches up with John's date of birth 1812, but would never have thought about it being mistranscribed to that extent. Could understand if the surname was spelt heethcote or Heathcoat

Once again many thanks Gillian. You're a Diamond

I don't have credits to access the address, maybe someone else can do this for you.

Re James as 'Hatter' My Grandfather and four of his five brother's were all born to a Farmer in the Isle of Man, but they all came to the mainland, married and settled here one becoming a Tram Driver another as a Plasterer and my Grandfather and his twin brother becoming Joiner's, so yes it's possible that your James did the same.

Wow eee, That's brilliant nanna, thank you so much. You've made my day. I've got Ellen Hesford as farm servant, however she left the farm when she married a Joseph Harrop in 1877 and Ann Wood took over as Farm Servant. .

Hmmm James an hatter, now is that why I sometimes say to my mum, you're as mad as an hatter. D

Sorry nanna I have babbled on a bit, thanks for all that info..Brilliant.
