Thread: Finding Birth Records without a GRO number

hi all,



could use a little advice.



I am wanting to find out the birth details of an ancestor of mine. However, I beleieve he was born out of wedlock. I have his mother's name and know the year of his birth, but how can I find out if he has a birth certificate if I dont have the GRO number?



Can the GRO do searches based on very limited info?



any help or advice welcome.

What was his name and the year of his birth. If you post that info, someone on here will give you the GRO number.

you could also search the indexes yourself at Ancestry . co .uk



if its a more "recent" birth you may not wish to post on here



if you have the definate year....you could search under his mothers maiden name and his fathers surname



If you struggle...just post all details you have...and someone bound to help ya!
