Thread: thomas stockwell

Hi again

Can anyone find anything out about thomas stockwell born 1812. I would like to know more about his childhood ie who were his parents,where was he born and did he have any siblings.

So far i found out that he was married to elizabeth coldrick . they had 3 children sarah,elizabeth and william , they were all born in st pancras london.

elizabeth died in 1856 age 39 in islington. in 1857 thomas married maria holding . I seem to have hit another brick wall i cant find anything about thomas when he was younger . i will be greatful for any help

Hi Angiee,

I just can't find the 1841 census for Thomas which might lead back to his parents.

He was definitely born in St Pancras as this is shown on the 1851/61/71 & 81 census reports. I note that he was a porter and retired on a Post Office pension after 1851, Maria was a Post Officer.

Not much help I'm afraid.

I can find Thomas on 1841 I think but he is already married to Elizabeth

Both born in county

The only other Stockwells in St Pancras (Grafton St East) are -

Thomas Stockwell 55 letter carrier born out county

Sarah 55 b out county

Harriett 20 dressmaker b in county

Sarah 17 b in county

Susannah Wilson 70 ind b out county

Ann Henegan 20 servant

No proof but it looks like a strong possibility

The possible parents also look very likely, particularly with the 'letter carrier' connection.

thank you so much for your help. the name thomas seems to run through my family for many generations . can i ask a favour have you got any idea of the addresses both thomas's were living at in 1941.

Gillian has the addresses shown, they are Thomas Jnr Hampton Rd & Thomas Snr Grafton Street East.
