any one who knows william greenwood born 1900 in bradford he had alot of brothers. i dont know his parents names.thanks paulette.x

Presume Paulette means Birth 1900 and DEATH 1985

hi loz yes your right about the dates it was 1900 for william greenwood born in bradford and he died in 1985 in halifax west yorkshire his parents name i dont know but i no they lived in west yorkshire aswell my grandad told me he had a lot of brothers.i have tryed 1900 census and 1894 census and marriges also i carnt get a birth certificate for him for that date which is the 14 january 1900. i was told to write to south port register office but they searched 1899-1901 inclusive. so were do i go from here? thankz paulette

We can't always take for granted what we are told!



Sooo...although you say your Grandad was born in Bradford...was he really?!?!? Did he live in Bradford as a youngster...and believe that he was born there???



There is a birth registered in Jan Qtr 1900 for a William Greenwood in Todmorden Vol 9a Page 240.



Just googled and Todmorden was in West Riding Yorkshire at turn of the century, although it is now classed as Lancashire. Looking at Multi Map, Todmorden doesn't look that far from Halifax....I may be clutching at straws....



Further to this.......when was Grandad & Grandma married? His marriage certificate would give his Fathers Name and Occupation ( even if his father was deceased) this could help trying to locate them on the 1901 Census....lol there were a few William Greenwoods born Yorkshire around 1898-1901!!





I, personally, would send for his Marriage certificate to proof his father...then work from that!

There is a birth for a Willie Greenwood 1901 March Qtr N.Bierley 9B194



North Bierley is a district in Bradford, this could be what your looking for.



There is also an entry for a Willie Greenwood aged 0 in 1901 Cencus for Leeds. Maybe someone with credits could check this out for you.
