Thread: Scottish Birth Look Up

hi



in particular any scottish members



the look up is to find my great grandad, his name is john boyd (quite a common name)

he was born in dretian, scotland circa 1850-1858 he died in liverpool between 1901-1920

he was a tailor and he was living in wyatt st, kirkdale



i have him on the 1881 and 1901 census, i have his marriage also to margaret blundell

it is the birth im really after, to obtain his parents names



the area dretian is a bit of a headscratcher, i cant find it on any search engine ive been on multimap and it doesnt exist so i can only imagine the name of the area has been changed since that time or maybe it was a street name put down in error on a census but i find this unlikely

You say that you have their marriage. Were they married in England or Scotland ?

it was in liverpool, england i have the details of the marriage but im not 100% (99.9) on the partners name thats why i havent got the marriage certificate yet

I have looked at the image and the place of birth has been put as Drighorn. I think this is meant to be Dreghorn. If you go to the help offered by members forum under Scotland. Gillian is offering lookups. I also offer them when I have credits spare but unfortunatley I have used mine for this month on my own searches.
