Thread: Alfred Derricutt

I feel guilty for asking twice in one day, but...



I haven't had much luck in searching for my Great Granddad's birth certificate. I am aware that maybe his birth wasn't registered, but since I know his 2 younger brothers' births were registered I would have thought his was too. Anyway, the details I have are:



Name: Alfred Derricutt (or Derricott).

Baptised: 04 JUN 1848 in Whitchurch, Shropshire (possibly Ash Magna,

near Whitchurch).

Father: Francis Derricutt (or Derricott).

Mother: Margaret Derricutt (formerly Duckers).



His mother was from Malpas, Cheshire, so it's possible he was born in

Cheshire rather than Shropshire.

I did think it was a bit of a long shot, but thanks for helping anyway. I can only assume his birth and those of his older brothers weren't registered, but his two younger brothers' births were registered (unless I find anything telling me otherwise).

Hi...........what are the names of his older brother's?

I have Alfred's older brothers down as Francis (born c1839), George (c1842), John (c1844) and Thomas (c1846).

Could this be Frances?

Hi Nixtee........sorry to disappoint, but I have realised that FrancEs is a feminine name.



There are about 3 Thomas Derricutt/ Dorricott's etc on freebmd, in the Shrewsbury/Atchum areas.



Oh and yes...........it should have read 1839

just a thought was he registered under his mothers maiden name?

I think I'll order that certificate anyway, but I'll get the Gro to check the parents on it. It's worth a try and it's so close to the name and date.



Their father's family originally came from the Shrewsbury area of Shropshire, so it's a possibility it could be one of them.
