    Default theodora creeper (maiden name)

Help can anyone assist me? I'm tearing my hair out, I have all my ancestors of Theodora Creeper (my grandmother), thanks to my cousin 3 times removed, but I cannot find Theodora's Death Index.

The information I have is as follows from the Birth Certificate

Born 9th August 1902 Sunnybank Warlingham - father Christopher Thomas Creeper - mother Sarah Ann formerly Webb - registered 15th September 1902 district of Godstone.

Marriage Certificate of Theodora Creeper to Henry John Smith (sometimes changed his name to Harry) 10th February 1923, Henry was 21 years old, and Theodora was 20 years old, Registered Godstone again.

After searching for hour upon hour I still cannot find a death index, where can I go from here? I have searched through from 1970 until 1985........

Please, please if there is anyone who can help me out there I would be so grateful......

    dottie

    xx

    Hi Dottie,

Have checked 1837 online 1960-1970 and 1984-2004 and could only find the following:

    Theodora (K) Smith Dec Qtr 1967 aged 65 yrs (Alton) 6B 54

this is close to her birthdate .

Question: Have you got a death for Henry? it's possible that Theodora may have remarried, just a thought.

Hi nanna again just to let you know that Henry John Smith, or known as Harry sometimes, i.e. according to marriage certificate to theodora he decided to take his fathers name of Harry on the certificate

According to marriage certificate his address was given as Clay Pits ,Edenbridge, which is Sevenoaks, Kent, have also noticed that some indexes for this name are registered in Woolwich London for example but then it reads Greater London Kent.

    Oh deary me

I'll be bald at this rate lol

Just have to wait for death cert for Theodora and hope that offers a clue - lol

    thanks once again nanna.......

Henry John Smith or Harry of Warlingham as he also liked to be known as is just as elusive only have a birth circa 1900 through to 1902.

Yet all my older ancestors are quite easy to trace

quick update on above, have discovered after making contact finally with a cousin in Warlingham that Theodora died in the early 1930's and is buried At all Saints in Warlingham, and Henry John Smith re-married to someone named Eileen (no surname yet lol!), but the best bit of all is the fact that grandad changed his name from GOLBY (birth surname so I have discovered)!! to Smith as he wanted to join up and fight for his country in the 1st World War.

Confused well so am I, lots of research to do now......

    Hi again Dottie,

Have checked death registration's for 1930 - 1939 and came up with the following:

    Theodora (A) Smith Sept Qtr 1931 Aged 21 Brighton 2B 286

Theodora Smith March Qtr 1933 Aged 83 Birkenhead 8A 974

neither of which are close to Theodora's birth date

also am re the change of name from Golby to Smith by Henry/Harry Smith.

Has anyone any thoughts on this one please?

    Nanna
