Thread: Help with my Broadhead's please?

I am currently trying to locate my Broadheads....I'm wondering if anyone can help please???



I have a George Henry Broadhead b1884 in Goole, he was a Keelman & is listed in 1901 census as living with his family at 6 Ebor St, Goole. His parents were John Broadhead & Elizabeth Lyons (nee North)....Elizabeth was previously married to William 'Lynes', dom: Jan Qtr 1873 in Goole.

George Henry married Harriet Richardson b1887 in Goole - she was my g grandad's sister.



I am trying to find abit more out about John & Elizabeth.....in the 1881 census, Elizabeth is listed with her children Sarah Ann & John William...they are living at 29 Doyle/Hoyle St, Hook, Goole - John is not listed with them. I have found a John Broadhead in the 1881 census, aboard the SS John Wells of Goole, he's listed as aged 34, an Able Seaman from Knottingley. I'm wondering if this is the right John?? Elizabeth Lyons was born in Goole & is listed as a Mariner's Wife....I don't know where John was born?? I have found a marriage for a Elizabeth Lyons & John Broadhead, Apr Qtr, 1877 in Goole.

Hiya Gillian, the chances are, they're probably part of the same family...George Henry seems to be a popular name choice within the family - I'll keep a note of them & hope I can find a link, he would be about the right age to be a possible parent for John?? I'll let you know how I get on with that one

My wife descends from BROADHEAD's in Knottingley, and as they were all seafaring folk, some went to Goole. It is therefore likely that we are researching the same families.
