Hi,
I've been trying to trace this family for so long, and can only get so far back. Here is all the inormation I have, I'm hoping someone may be able to help.
It all starts with Barbara Wooley. (or Woolley - her marriage certificate has double L and her birth only one!)
She was born 23 Mar 1863 at 46 Hornby Street, Liverpool. The record of her birth states that her parents were Thomas Woolley and Mary "McGuinness".
Thomas was a "Joiner Journeyman".
After tearing my hair out for a long time, I finally found Thomas and Mary's marriage record. Although Mary's surname is spelt "Maginnis". They were married on 13 Dec 1852 at St Nicholas Church, Liverpool.
Thomas was of full age and a bachelor. his father is given as Robert Woolley a captain in the 51st regiment of foot (?)
Mary was also of full age and a spinster. her father is given as James Maginnis a stonemason.
They both lived at Portlans Street.
I have found the family on the 1871 census, although it seems Thomas has died by then as Mary is a widow:-

I can also find Barbara and her sister Charlotte on the 1881 census:-

But I can not find them any earlier than 1871. I can trace Charlotte and Barbara's families more recently (Barbara married a Matthew Major), but I have really struggled to find the family in 1861, 51 or 41. Nor can i determine what Thomas's mothers name was as I don't know how old he was when he was married to enable me to find his birth record. Similarly I can't find Mary's birth either!
Can anyone help at all?
