can you help
my grandmother was called mary penelope babington born 1925 in lincolnshire, i was always led to believe that her mum and dad were babington and sykes, but free bmd has shown that the oldest five children had mothers surname on their birth certs as babington but grandma and her elder brother had cross as mothers name.... can anyone shed any more light on this for me

Do you have the birth cert? If not then it might be worth obtaining a copy of it from the Gro online. It will cost you £9.25 and will give to the correct names of parents.

Any ideas when and where, Babington & Sykes/Cross got married? Do you have a first name so we can try and trace them in 1911?

Something is wrong here, what was the fathers surname if the mothers were Babington or Cross ? Where does Sykes come in? was this the fathers surname?
Mary Penelope Babington born 1925 in Lincolnshire, I cannot find a birth with this name or a marriage. Are you sure your Grandmothers middle name was Penelope ?

frederick died I think 1952
There are other Babington names Christopher, Clifford, Ernest
