Thread: Jane Thirkell born 1791 Yorkshire

I would be very grateful for some advice - I have been looking for this lady for a few years now and have received a letter from the Yorkshire archives with some information.

There are 2 entries for a birth in Yorkshire - 10th July 1791, daughter of William Thyrkil of Wass - baptised at Kilburn and 31st July 1791 daughter of William Thirkell baptised at Coxwold. She was married in Northallerton and I have a copy of the marriage entry but there are no baptism transcripts for her in Northallerton and the surrounding parishes. The Kilburn entry found on family search has been confirmed with the original entry.

Have you any suggestions or ideas how I can find out which of these Jane Thirkell is my ancestor or is this the end of the road with this search?

That is the one - on the marriage entry it says she is of this parish (Northallerton). Thanks Noggin28

my only suggestion would be to try and find out who the other jane thirkell marries and try to follow that family forward in all census / marriages etc and see if at any point there is a clues eg marriage witnesses/ childrens baptisms/other people who appear on the census with them.

The 1851 census is the one I have been going by - there are only these 2 entries for a Jane Thirkell. I have found an Eliza Thirkell staying with one of Jane and Henry's children in a later census born in Gainford Durham so it looks as if I will have to try and track her birth down and see if she ties into one of the Jane's. It all becomes very expensive if you have to pay for a search and then a certificate! Thank you for helping - I am very grateful.

She's on the 1851 census born in 1791 - Killerby, Yorkshire
