Dear members,
I am trying to discover a baptism record for Charles HICKS born circa 1789/90 or possibly any apprentice/indenture records (not sure what sort of apprenticeships carpenters had at this time). I know he wasn't born in Middlesex (I assume Kent but don't know) but he did spent the majority of his life there.
The information I have, working backwards, is:
Burial: Charles HICKS - 27 January 1850 Poplar All Saints, age 59;
Death cert: Charles HICKS - died 18 January 1850 Poplar (3 Cold Harbour), Ships joiner, informant Ann HICKS (present at death) of 3 Cold Harbour Poplar, registered 24th January 1850;
1841 census: Charles HICKS - Cold Harbour Poplar, age 50, Carpenter, not born in county
1831 parish return Poplar: HICKS Cha's - 32 Cottage Street, Carpenter
Marriage: Charles HICKS (with Ann JACKSON), married 25 August 1822 Greenwich St Alfege, Bachelor, both OTP, by banns, both signed in the presence of Mary JACKSON (mark) and [looks like] somebody SMITH
Charles and Ann had 12 children between 1823 and 1842 all born in Poplar.
Any help or pointers gratefully received.
Regards
Peter
