    Default Ellis Herbert

Mary Ann & Herbert Ellis (b1867), married 20/12/1889 in Derby, believe they had a son Herbert Wm Ellis, b1891 in Derby, but cannot trace any more info on son (or any other siblings). Wondered if son died in WW1 as there are a number of casualties of same name but I don't have access to the records. Any help/suggestions would be much appreciated.

If you go to the CWGC site [commonwealth war graves] an excellent free site ther is a death of a Peivate H.W Ellis of the West Yorkshire Regt [Prince of Wale's own] he died on the 16/8/1917 age 26 buried at Mount Huon military cemetery, Le Treport. This could be him what do you think?

Yes it is indeed him. If you click on his name it will give further information and you can also click o bthe certificate button for a few more details and a picture of the grave.
There is a birth for a Harold Ellis at Derby March qr 1893 7b 516 which I assume must be him. Hardd was obviously a mistranscription.
