Thread: Looking for info on Reginald and Louie Roberts (1911 ish??)

My family have started my interest

Looking for information on a Reginald Roberts he died in Algiers in 1911 I believe he was a ship's steward with the Merchant Navy at the time of his death?

Reginald was married to Louie Roberts (maiden name Roper) as far as I know she was born in Slygo or Cork - they are my grandparents interested in trying to trace details -

They had 2 sons - Percey Marshall Roberts who was killed 1942 whist serving with the Gordon Highlanders remembered on a memorial in Singapore and Neville Roberts who also has passed away a few years ago.

I am told that after Reginald died Louie joined the Moutry family who had a farm in the Huntly area Aberdeenshire and from this union my mum (Doris Barbara Moutry Roberts) was born (29 March 1917)- sadly she also has passed.

I know it's not a lot of information but would be please if anyone could help or point me in which direction I should head

And Thank you Pejay and Noggin28 - I will have to ask between the family to see if they have any information such as birth - marriage certificates ect - as they remind us all we should be asking questions whilst our relatives and loved ones are with us -

When my uncle Neville passed away I got a couple of photos of him and his wife Mary and a photo of Uncle Percy whilst he served with the Gordons - problem is that the band photo contains all the band so don't even know which one is Percy?

I will get back to the forum once I speak between my brother and two sisters and once again to everyone for the help so far -

percys birthdate gives us a starting point to look for his birth. an area of the country would be helpful as there are too many to choose from at moment. if you could narrow down when and where neville died it should provide us with a birthdate for him too. any ideas what marys maiden name was - that would help trace their marriage . where did reginald and louie marry - england, scotland, ireland??? any other info however small would help narrow down the search.

Thanks for your reply - I will have to wait till I get hold of the rest of the family to see what they know - Family is scattered across the country so may be a while before we all meet up but I will get back if I get any info but thank you for your help so far
