    Default Frederick Pottinger

Please can anyone help me to trace Frederick Pottinger.

In the 1881 census he is shown as 4 months old living with his parents Charles and Emily and his brother Charles and sister Emily.
I haven't got a copy of his birth certificate, but I assume he was born in December 1880. There is a Frederick Pottinger on Free BMD born Jan-Feb-Mar 1881 in Wandsworth. I believe this is him.

He is in the 1891 census with his sister Emily staying with their grandmother. (Frederick's father Charles died in 1882 and his mother re-married to Edward Seabrook).

After that I get lost. I have found a few Frederick Pottingers but none I can prove were him.

I thought I remembered meeting him in the early 1950s, living in Surrey with his sister Emily and her husband Robert Bescoby.
I have found death records for Emily and Robert but nothing for Frederick and no marriage either.

He may not have married, but he must have died. Why can't I find him?

    Please can anyone help?

    Hello noggin28

Thanks for coming back to me, but that is the baptism of his brother Charles.

I have been unable to find a baptism for Frederick, or his sister Emily.

I have found a marriage and death for Emily, but after the 1891 census I cannot find anything for Frederick.

This entry on the 1891 census has a transcription error. Emily's maiden name was Hall.

Emily is also shown on the 1891 census living with her husband Edward Seabrook, her eldest son Charles Pottinger, and her two daughters by Edward Seabrook, Louisa and Annie. The are living at 45 East Street, Newington, London.

Annie is only one month old so it seems unlikely that Emily would leave her overnight. Especially as Annie was not a healthy child and she died at about six months old.

I wonder if her widowed mother Charlotte was suffering from early dementia. I thought that maybe the grandchildren, Frederick and Emily were staying with her and Charlotte gave her own children's names to the enumerator as well, because she didn't really understand.

This is the last time I have a positive record for Frederick. And I'm desperately trying to find out what happened to him.

I did find that 1901 census, it could be him but I don't know for certain. What I really want is to find a marriage or death.
