Thread: Mabel Audery (Audeley) Frost Born Circa 1881/1882

Hi Everyone.

I am trying to discover a birth record for a Mabel Audrey (Audeley) Frost born circa 1880/1882.

The first official record I can find of her is her Marriage to John Thompson Wright on the 10 May 1906.

On the Cert it gives her age at the time as 25 making her year of birth either 1880 / 1881 depending on her birthday.

Her husband was a Officer in the 14th King's Hussars who later gained a DCM.

Soon after they married they left for war campaigns across the world.

They had four children all born in India whilst her husband was in military service.

John T Wright
Mabel A Wright
George H Wright
Bertha M Wright

The birth certs for these children record her middle name as either Audeley or Audrey.

The same confusion for the Marriage and Death Certs.

Auderley on Marriage and Audrey on Death.

The marriage records her father as John Henry Frost.

The death cert records the DOB as 1st May 1882 !

I've been everywhere I can think of . No wonder you can't find her... but someone on here will!

Is her father's name on marriage cert John HERNE Frost?
Might she have been born abroad?
Did you see a census entry that might be her?
It was probably only Mabel and husband who were in Kent(Shorncliffe Barracks) so of course John H Frost could have come from anywhere.

It is a tough one.

From those who remember her she was defiantly southern and born here in the UK.

Her husband was from Cheshire which is where they returned to after the war.

The only reference to Surrey is the death cert.

I read the fathers middle name to be Henry and the GRO print missed the whole of the Y out but it could be something else as you say?

Just to add to the mix she is referred to in some old photos as 'Alice'

If she went to work for Colman mustard family then she'd have been well looked after. I met an old lady on a train who was cook to the family and she told me how wonderfully "The Family" cared for it's employess.
There's a 19 yr old servant born Wandsworth Surrey on 1901 census living in Hertford St Andrews?

There is a John Frost in Banstead(born Old Buckingham Norfolk) on1891 census. Rg10/542/10/pge 13
He is 39, wife Louisa 30 born Bath somerset, and three children Elizabeth 7, Ethel 4 and William 3.
Father in law James Davis 80 (ag. lab), a gen lab. also born Bath. But no Mabel.

Was there ever any mention of any siblings of Mabel?

Sorry Lola, I've only just seen this as I've been involved with other searches. Your confidence in me may be shattered as, of yet I've not found anything. I will look in more depth tomorrow.

I did find two John Frosts' in 1881 census whose occ's were Chemists but there was no Mabel or Alice with them.
