Thread: Ernest "Avington" Young

Hello Folks,, long time no see but have a little query that i would like your ideas & suggestions please,

The subject is ,,,Where did my ancestor Ernest Young get his middle name

He was born 7th October 1893 in Aston Manor (juxta Birmingham)
Father a Charles Young born 1849 Rushden, N,hants, Mother Harriet (Butler) born Aston 1864
Harriet was 3rd wife for Charles (2 prior died in childbirths), married 12th Aug 1891.

I have researched this section of "Tree" quite thoroughly, with i might add very helpful hints/advice
from this site (Thank you) so i was quietly wondering,,Where did this "Avington" moniker come from ?
Nothing of serious research but would just like to fill-in interesting snippet

Have you traced back through the Butler line?
I have an Inkerman(after battle of Inkerman) and a Gladstone after Robert Ewart Gladstone.... as middle names in bits of my tree but in your case it may well be the place. I can't see any Avington surnames but am probably not looking in right place.
Have you put Avington into British History online? I often find all manner of stuff on this site.

Have since found several Avingtons on 1841. In Liverpool all born Ireland John Avington, born 1812, shoemaker, wife Bridget, children John 3 and Mary 9 mths. Ho107/563/11
Also on The G*********t site are several more Avingtons in Hampshire and other places. But I don't have a sub.
Avington Park? Any link between your Young/ Butler lines to George Brydges who once owned it or the the Shelleys?

there is an Avington Park a privately owned stately home in Winchester - any connection? perhaps one of your ancestors even worked there.
