    Hi Janvee,
I have looked everywhere but cannot find the marriage. There is a marriage of a Louisa frost in Clerkenwell in Oct/Nov Dec 1851, 3,82 and there is a missing male on it so it just might be William Oram but I cannot find a William Oram marriage in Clerkenwell.

A william Oram and Louisa had a daughter Ellen in Brighton in 1856, April/May /June quarter Gro no. 2b 186.
This Ellen married a John Richard lamb 27th Dec 1876 at St Paul's Deptford. She was 21. Her father was William Oram , a railway guard.(it does not say deceased)
His father was John Richard lamb a platelayer. This Ellen lamb nee Oram died Jan/Feb/March Croyden Surrey in 1900.
    Is this your family?

There is a Louisa Frost daughter of James Frost , a harp maker's porter, and Louisa Mary Frost living in Westminster in 1851 and they have a family including a daughter Louisa Frost aged 19.

She was born 12 June 1831 and baptiised at St Marylebone on 20 Jan 1832 parents James Frost, a porter< and Louisa Mary. Their address is 18 Marlboro Mews( address is same as on 1851 census).
    Might she be yours?
As William and Louisa must have married after 1851 and he was dead before the next census then how do you know they did marry?

There were several Richard William Owen/ William Own born in Brighton, baptised St. Nicholas so can you be sure that one is yours?
Do you have any certificates so far?

    Hi Lola5
Thank you for your quick reply. I have been in contact with Sue in Nottingham who is decended from Ellen and John Lamb and can confirm that what you posted about her is my family. I have Louisa's death cert which states that she was the widow of William Oram, railway guard of 35 Albert Road, South Norwood. Sue has research the Lamb family and has found what she believes to be the 1851 census entry for Louisa Frost, parents Joseph and Mary Ann, at 38 Park Crescent Mews, Marylebone. Between us we have been looking for a marriage for her and William and were beginning to think that they were not legally married.
I have William's baptism entry for St Nicholas in 1830 and his death cert confirming the family legend that he had died in a railway accident. My gt grandfather, Henry Oram said on his marriage to Eliza Harriet Smith in 1878 that his father was William Oram, goods guard but I now know that this was not true. His mother was William's sister, Frances who was unmarried. So, William is not my direct ancester but I was trying to tie up a loose end.

    Hi Pejay

Thanks for your reply. There seem to many Louisa Frost's! Her death cert records her as the widow of William Oram, railway guard so I don't think she married again. Please see the reply I sent to Lola5

Maybe they lived together as common law man & wife. It was reasonably common. I have two ancestors marriages that I cannont find anywhere. I know there are some missing indexes not sure what years they were - maybe someone else would know. It was defubutely around the 1850-1870
