Looking for info on Pallatt's in Wales, they seemed to have moved around the Cardiff and Swansea area as they are listed in the 1901 and 1911 census.
Also looking for info on Lewis Paylet, born c 1845 and died in 1896. He had 2 sons that travelled with him to UK, Abraham and David. Have hit brick wall as to spouse and place of origin, believed to be Russia but where not sure, and when and where he entered the UK. Any help appreciated. Very difficult to do research from South Africa.

Do you have the probate record for Lewis Pallatt, of 83 Clare rd cardiff.death in leeds 1986 probate, to Abraham Pallatt.?
Also, born in Russia of Russian parentage(or possibly Polish), his name would not have been Pallatt or Paylet so at some stage or another it was changed. Might it have ben Palatov, Palatovski, Pellenin or more likely Pallatz. Have you found him on any census before 1891?

Do you know anything about Lewis's parentage? Was he born in Russia? Is Lewis Pylett his birth name? Where in the UK was he living and when?

No probate record for Lewis, only a note sent to me saying he died on 9 Nov 1896 at 26 Imperial Street, Leed, Yorkshire, but the address for Clare Rd was given. He is father to Abraham. Only record is census in 1891 for Llanelly, Breconshire, staying at 40 Glamorgan Str. It appears they are boarding there. He is listed with Abraham and David birth place given as Russia. My dad always used to say that they were of Lithuanian descent but don't know how accurate it is. His occupation is given as a Traveller

Unfortunately I have no info on Lewis's parentage. It is possible that the name could have been Pylett, He is listed on 1891 census with two sons Abraham and David living at 40 Glamorgan Str. From the page from the census I assume that they were boarding there. Both sons were born in Russia, the name was changed to Pallatt at a later stage. My dad used to say that they were of Lithuanian descent. Very difficult for South Africa to trace ancestors. He died in 1896 in Leeds, Yorkshire, but his address at the time was given as 83 Clare Rd Cardiff. The family seems to have stayed in Wales, in and around Cardiff and Swansea. His occupation given as traveller born in Russia, that is all I have.

Pallatt not a Russian name so may have been Paletz, or paletovski.
He would most likely have had a relative here.
