only George Playfoot I can find married to an Alice is in 1887 at Poole in Dorset !

there is a Playfoot tree on A********y but none has the marriage listed. They have her down as Alice Playfoot..........

From the 1911, Alice is a widow, who states she was married for 26 years, but as you say her place of birth changes over the years in each census!

Would the mothers maiden name not be on a birth certificate, and perhaps Georges name has been mis spelt / transcribed on the marriage record?

Would he have used his middle name? just a thought. Some marriage entries are missing. Not sure which ones and some have been wrongly entered due to badly written records. Do you have his death cert? I found a death for a George Arhtur Playfoot in Dec qr 1906 age 45 at Skirlaugh 9d 221.

If, on the 1911, Alice, widowed, gives her length of marriage as 26 years then she would have been married in about 1885. Since Emma was born in 1882 she may have been illigimate so may have been registered in the mother's maiden name .

There is a birth of Frederick Playfoot son of George and Alice in Skirlaugh March quarter of 1886 9d,310.
It might be worth while sending off for this cert to see the maiden name of his mother.

Could Alice have been a middle name? how sure are you of their marriage? . What info do you have on Emma? yes I think it may be time to send for the birth cert if you have not got it
