Smile Help with a NEWSPAPER article.

    Hi there,
I wonder if anybody will be able to help with this:

On one of the BIG genealogy websites (the one with the green leaves in their logo....don't know if I'm allowed to mention their name ), there is a newspaper article (or something similar) under the name Zachariah TREGANOWAN.

I would be so grateful if someone can have a look at it and tell me what it is about, dates, places...you know, the usual stuff any researcher would love to get their hands on.

I have a Zachariah TREGANOWAN in my family and have been struggling to find much information on this family. I know he was born in 1790 and married a Rhoda (no surname) in Cornwall. They then moved to London and had children there. Further than this, I can't find anything.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Hello mmh1 welcome to AA. I hope you spend many happy hours with us on the site. We have a really good team who are more than willing to help. Please do not mention a genealogy site in full. If you have to register - like you do on AA you should not name it - but you can use initials and so disguise the name i.e a******y etc.
Let us have as much info as possible and I am sure you will start to get results

    Pejay,
Yes I have seen that and I do think this could be him but can't find any other dots to connect, like a mother, siblings etc. to verify that information.

I was hoping that newspaper article I mentioned before would shed some light!

    Thank you for your interest.

    Hallo and welcome!
It is there on someone's tree. It is an advert in the Royal Cornwall Gazette of May26 1813. It seems the firm of Jenkins,Force and Treganowen were setting up a manufactory at premises at the back of Lemon St. Truro. They were coach and Harness makers.
Your Zacharias/h(he is down as Zacharias on baptism of son Zacharias Thomas born Oct 1825 baptised Nov 5th 1826 at St. George's Bloomsbury(parents Zacharias and Rhoda) of Duke St. St. George and he is a coachsmith.
Your Zacharias was Son of Henry and Ann(nee Chegwidden) and married Rhoda Franklynn(e) 19 July 1813 at Kenwyn (Truro)Cornwall.
As pejay has said... there is a christening on LDS site for Zachariah Treganowan 01/Jan/1791 at kea cornwall. Father Henry.
Batch no CO52811, Source call no. 0916941, film no. 0933489. If you are close to a Family History centre you could order this film for a small fee(really small) and look through the parish record for yourself at the FHS centre. or one of the Cornish online parish clerks will look for you. They are very obliging.
and another zachariah Treganowan bap 27 Nov 1762 Kenwyn Cornwall.

Oh my goodness Lola...you are "fantabulous"!!!!! Thank you!!!

Looks like you hit the jackpot! Let me not get too excited now!

Another question, if I may: Would you be able to see what happened to the son, Zachariah/s Thomas TREGANOWA(e)N. Hope I'm not imposing.

    Regards

    Hi!,
No need to thank me as it's not my tree.... only connection we have is that my great grandparents and great aunt are buried in Kenwyn churchyard...(smiley here!)
With other people's trees you still need to check and recheck. I guess if people put their trees on public view they don't mind if others take what is needed.
I edited my post so please re-read it.
I will have another look at the tree.
Just have to say that the baptism register is an absolute joy to read. Thank you dear vicar!

The tree (this reasearcher is very thorough) has Zachariah TreganowAN b. Kea 1790 (bap. 1/Jan 1791)Cornwall died London 1837.
He was in Bridgwater Somerset aged 24 in 1814 and then in 1817 he was in London at Little Russell St. Bloomsbury.
His parents were Henry (1747-1803) and Ann Chegwidden. Henry's parents were Henry 1721 -1781 and Ann Mellet. (This Henry is the one bap Kenwyn Oct 1721, father Thomas Treganowan as on LDS site C022952 and he also had a brother Thomas bap 12 Dec 1726)
Zachariah married Rhoda franklynn 19 July 1813(forgotten where).
    They had Henry 1814-1885
Honor MariaT 1816(have not found her baptism)
    Samuel 1816-1817
    Rhoda Varco 1818-1837
    Sophia 1821
Zacharias Thomas born 11 Oct 1826 m christened 5th Nov 1826 and Ann 1829. Can find nothing on Zach Thomas beyond Christening. (the tree lady has nothing on him apsrt from christening. Will keep looking. Remind me if i forget.

    Oh dear!
    I have found Ann's baptism/
She was baptised Feb 28th 1838 at Streatham St. Leonard but her birth is given as Nov1st 1829. She is the daughter of Zachariah and Rhoda TRIGowen, both parents dead. 1841 in Distict female Orhpan Asylum Lambeth Surrey aged 11.
Whatever happened to Zachariah and Rhoda? They had lived in an affluent area and now are dead and child/children in orphanges.
Earlier I found a baby , Matilda Treganowan buried at 13months from the Workhouse and thought it couldn't possibly be Zach and Rhoda's... but? I will look again.
Ann married April /May/June 1854 Lambeth 1d, 368. She marries John Ellis. He is a master tailor and she a dressmaker and they have a son John H born about1857.
