Where to start, Trying to find Harry Henson Shorter b.1889 married Sarah Elizabeth Snowdrop Harding October 1914 at St. Andrews, Hertford. england.
I know that Harry Henson Shorter went to war, but i do not know what regiment he was with or anything else. Can someone shed some light on this, or give me any info on where to find him/them/kids too.

    Hallo alisonjane,
There is a Harry Henson Shorter of 78 Gladstone Rd Chester who was in the RGA(REg number 92838. He joined upon S7 Dec 1915. He married an Elizabeth Harding 1914 and had a son, Eric born 4 Jan1916 at Chester. Discharged 19/10/1918 and had an injured left hand. Character very good.
I think he is the Harry Henson Shorter born Reading Berks 11 march 1889 and he died there aged 83 in Oct /Nov/Dec1972. Gro no.( if you want to get a certificate) is 6a. 454 He is possibly buried in the Henley Rd Cemetery Caversham Reading.

He was born in Reading Berks, April may June quarter, 1889, 2c,257 and was living there with his family in 1901. Will put census on here in a mo but must do it according to rules or they will have my guts for garters... metaphorically speaking. Father was a carpenter born Reading(probably baptised St Giles. St Giles was one of the main churches and the other was st Mary's. (St Giles is on Hugh Wallis so we are in luck) Mother was Alice born Northamptonshire.

The Harry Henson Shorter born Reading 1889 had a father William George Shorter(also born Reading), a carpenter and a mother Alice... so there must have been two Harry Henson Shorters born in the same year to William George Shorters.
How do you know William George Shorter was born in Surrey?
On the marriage noted in the army report Elizabeth is simply Elizabeth Harding. Do you have her marriage cert?
I will look again to see if I can find a william George shorter born Surrey with a son Harry henson Shorter and daughter Dorothy.
There were Shorters in Richmond Surrey.
Do you know Blanche's maiden name?

The marriage of Harry H Shorter to Sarah E. S. Harding oct/Nov/Dec 1914 Hertford Herfordshire . Gro number, 3a, 1572.
Is this the cert you have? Can you tell us the profession of Henry's father please. Does it give Harry's full name?
    Was Sarah's father's name Robert?
Baptism of Sarah Elizabeth Snowdrop Harding at St. Clement Church City Rd Islington. March 24th 1889. Parents Robert and Jane,
They lived at 2 Chapel Buildings City Rd and I think Robert was a printer.
Still looking for HarryHenson Shorter with a father William born Surrey. Several Shorters from various parts of Surrey were in the army.
    Regards
