I think he may have been kept at home pejay.I have checked the Institutions but couldnt find him or any death date for him..He has tugged at my heart for some reason.

Have you considered he may have married, or lived independent of his family?

Terms such as idiot, imbecile, or lunatic were not defined in the way they would be today; for instance epileptics were sometimes enumerated as idiots but would be capable of holding down a job.

Times have changed, and those in need of special care in the nineteenth century were treated with suspicion but if say he did have epilepsy it is possible he 'grew out of it'

No I had not even thought of your suggestion...and as they had farms he would have probably been capable of doing some jobs .I just hope whatever his problems were he was well looked after...

As he came from a farming family he would have been cared for by one or other family members after his mother's death so not to worry branwen. He was in the best place. I cannot find him or Mary on 1871. Idiot covered a wide range of disabilities then as slizzy has said. Many did not live into adulthood. I have one who lived with her mother all her life until her death.

Sorry it should have read Isle of Man Farm,Llanfaethlu,Anglesey.
Mary is on the 1871 still living at Isle of Man Farm..but no Edward.Having found the little bits of info about them I am sure he would have been well looked after.

There is a death on freeBMD for an Edward Parry aged 25, March 1871 Anglesey, 11b, 419. Do you think this might be him?

Well if it is him then we can be glad that he lived with his family all his life.
