    Default Chas Archer

I am trying to establish the wife of Chas Archer born about 1863 in Croydon, Surrey, England. I know from the 1901 census he was married to a Mary and lived in Shadwel, Leeds but I would like to confirm her maiden name. Searching A******y.com the results I get is that she was Mary Ann Norman b: 1861 at Compton Dundon, Somerset. This doesn't ring true because the census states she was born in Yorkshire. When they were married they lived in Shadwell nr Leeds in Yorkshire were my grandmother Elizabeth Archer was born 1886. Any one Help?

Hello Col42, I take it Charles and Mary were your Great Grandparents so do you have a copy of your Grandmothers birth certifcate as it will state Mothers maiden name?

    Hi Milford Lass
I have seen the tree you mention. No thats not me, I have also seen other trees that state Mary Ann Norman was Chases wife but you get a lot of record copying on Ancestry the trouble is if one is wrong everyone is. I have seen marriage records for Mary that also state she was married to some one with the surname Shepard thats my problem.

Elizabeth was my Grandmother their daughter.

    Hi Bronson211

Thanks for the reply. I don't think this is the one I'm after, I'm pretty sure my Chas Archer was born in 1863 in Crydon, Surrey, England and his father was David Archer born in Fife Scotland
