Do you know if he had any children? If you can get hold of a birth cert for one of them it should give the mother's maiden name. Knowing this will help pinpoint who he married.

Maybe his marriage can be narrowed down, was his mother's name Mary Ann as if so he was still single in 1911.

Evacuee did you find the marriages in the GRO index, or Parish Registers? If GRO then I can look at Parish Registers, do you know his father's name?
Thanks for your input emeltee
Hi slizzy..Thanks for your help too...No I found the references on A******* but I have had a job. I wish he had a second name.
I have never been on GRO, didn't know about it thanks for your prompt.
I think I'll call it a day now and start again in the morning, might be a little fresher. Goodnight.

I'm starting this up again as I haven't got any further with it myself.
I have Lydia Jane Ellis married Alfred Nash West Ham 1906
or Alice Bennett in 1906
Mary Dickson June 1908
or Ada Francis Pestel
Also.. Ellen Howcutt June 1914.
All these ladies married a Alfred Nash but which Alfred is mine...and how do I sort it without getting a marriage certificate??
Thanks
