Edward Padden - Newcastle upon Tyne, UK

I wonder if anyone is able to help me. My great great grandfather Edward Padden (born I think around 1838 in Ireland) married Bridget (no surname known) and had my great grandmother Mary Padden around 1862-1865 in Newcastle upon Tyne. I've reached a brick wall with both Edward and Bridget, and can't get any further back. Mary Padden married in 1889 to John Timney at St Anthony's of Padua, Walker, Newcastle. Can anyone help me with Bridget's surname, and the place of birth of both Edward and Bridget? Did they marry in England or Ireland. Any information on their parents?

Any help you can provide will be very much appreciated!!

Hello and welcome to AA. I hope you spend many enjoyable hours on the site. Do you know what county in Ireland Edward was born in? have you managed to pick them up on census details. What was there religion? I haven't managed to track down a marriage in this country yet. Do you have Mary's birth cert? this will tell you her Mothers maiden name.and also occupation of Father.

There is a tree on A******* that seems to have your Edward on it born Belmullet, Kilcommon Co. Mayo, parents John 1815 and Margaret.1818
It gives Mary and John as having 11 children.(all named)
It gives Edward's death in 1876 and Edward's wife as Bridget also from Co Mayo.(It gives no maiden name for Bridget(possibly baptised Brigid)
There is a census entry for a John Padden aged 37 with wife catherine 36 and children Michael , John, Edward and Mary. living in Newcastle east All saints.
This may possibly be your Edward's brother.

I was about to go back for another look as I had forgotten how to spell Margaret's surname.Funny there's no child named Margaret(They usually named one after the mother!) They'd be RC in Co. Mayo.
Jolly clever of you to get them all (mistranscribed) on the censuses.
Wish I could get my Irish lot back that far!

Thank you for going to all the trouble of finding out about my Edward and Bridget, you've helped me fill in the blanks a bit. I've still not had any luck with Bridget's maiden name, I only know her married name of Padden. It's so frustrating isn't it, when you just can't get over that wall!! You've all been really helpful though with a lot more information, so thank you again!
