I've been researching family history for 20ish years now, have done lots of Census transcriptions and help like minded to tumble down their brick walls, right now I am tying to help a Norwegian locate and trace the movements of an ancestor (second Cousin) her name is Hannah Thalette Helmerson born in Trondelag, Norway 14 Oct 1874 her last known location in Norway was Borge in Lofoten in 1891 it was thought she came to England, she was married twice to a Thomas D? (Douthwaite) and Frank? (Short) she had no children, I located a marriage for her in Tynemouth Mar qtr. 1903 Hannah Tallatthe Short to a Thomas Lovell Douthwaite, then found them on the 1911 Census, she gives her nationality as Norwegian but in the place of birth is Newark Montana, America, the enumerator has written in red 'Resident', so somehow she has made her way to America we are trying to track her time there, there is an entry on Ancestry; H. Helmerson, Civil: 15 Oct 1894 Montana. U.S. Naturalization Record Indexes, 1791-1992. (Indexed in World Archives Project) Citizenship & Naturalization Records, also it is told that her 1st husband died probably in the Boar War 1899 - 1902 and the Boer War Casualties are listed on Ancestry too there are a few F (Frank) Short I have been unable to locate a marriage to a Frank Short it is possible she married in America. Would anyone be able to have a look to see if it is Hannah on the Naturalisation Record and check the Boer War list, I realise I am asking a lot being a 'newby' but I would so appreciate any help with this.
