Thread: Frederick henry george

Hi I do hope someone can help me!!!!

My Gt Grandfather was FREDERICK HENRY GEORGE
he was born in (supposedly) 1881 in (supposedly) Sydney Australia
He was (supposedly) in the Machine Guns Corps during WW2
He is (supposed) to have come over to UK either during or after the war.
He was found living in Manchester at 86 Bishop Street in Manchester with LILIAN GEORGE his wife and HELEN WATT Lilian's Mother
Sometime either during WW2 or after, he met LILIAN WATT and we (assume) they married, as in 1924/5 they had a daughter HELEN ELIZABETH and in 1927 they had a son DOUGLAS.
As you can gather we dont know an awful lot about him!!

PLEASE PLEASE can anyone help me

my problem now is understanding all this information?

On the 2 parts for Helen and Douglas you have numbers
2 are the same.... 8d on Helen and on Douglas
the others are 542 on Helen and 941 on Douglas
can you tell me what these are for please?
On Frederick you have number 60856 can you tell me what these are for please.
Any help, now matter how small, will be gratefully accepted!!!!

Hi Lavender,

The 8d is the volume number and 941/542 are the page numbers. You can use these when ording a certificate from the GRO.

the number for Fred is his army number.
this may or may not be your Fred though, but he is the only one I found for machine gun corps. wonder if they could have married in Scotland ???
no trace of a marriage in England and Wales.
