Thread: SIR SAMUEL STANIER - 400th Lord Mayor of London 1713/1714

(variations of Stanier include Stayner, Steiner, Steyner and Stanhowe).

My grandmother, a Stayner, has handed down to my mother a letter from Queen Anne written to Sir Samuel shortly before her death in 1714 (Queen Anne's death, not my grandmother's death...).

However, we have no proof the he is indeed an ancestor, and the web has no information of a genealogical nature about him at all...

If anyone can help with details of his parents and his heirs it would be much appreciated.

If you Google him, there is a link to Sir Samuel Stanier b 1649 which is a community tree from Family search. It has details of his parents, and although he married there were no children. Details of his wife are not recorded.

Thank you Brian - I will try to find the link you mention; if he had no descendants then this may have come down from his wife via other family members, or through a sibling... makes it difficult, but interesting!
