My grandmother, a Stayner, has handed to us a collection of items belonging to Sir Richard. Mention is made of the 'family pirate' when referring to him; but we do not have documentary proof, except for a few letters and such that do not provide much 'geneology-related' information. He was a naval captain, and later rear-admiral of the fleet; also twice knighted. The web is full of information on him; but I cannot find any details of his wife or his son.
He had a daughter, Elizabeth, who married into the Holford family of Westburton; and I have sources that say (a) he had no male heirs; and (b) he had a son called Richard.
Is there anybody out there who can offer assistance with his wife's details; but perhaps especially his son's details?
Much Obliged
