I'm looking for any information on Edward Nash who was a Riding Officer of Customs in Thanet around 1800-1820. I think his wife was named Mary, no maiden name.
Thank you.

Can you give us a bit more info please. Do you mean he was born 1800/20 in Thanet? do you have the names of any children for Edward and Mary, or sibblings for Edward. have you found him on any census (ref?)

Hi
There are no marriages for Edward Nash, in the following Thanet parishes, St John Margate, 1610-1905, St Lawrence Ramsgate, 1559 -1906, St Peters in Thanet in Broadstairs. 1582-1905. ( I have checked the parish records as transcribed by Kent Family History Society.)
However on May 14 1820 Henry Newton Son of Edward & Mary NASH St Peter's (Riding Officer of Customs) was baptised in St Peters in Thanet Church. There are no records of further baptisms.
There is no death record for Edward, Mary or Henry recorded in the St Peter Parish records.

Edward Nash was my great great grandfather.Born (1790) in Goodneston he married Mary Neville of Biddenden in 1810, and soon after sold his properties and became a Riding Officer based at Sandwich. After a posting to London he died in a cholera epidemic c1834, and his widow married John Budds of Bearsted. A fuller account of his life can be seen in the last chapter of my publication The Nash Families in Goodnestone-next-Wingham, published by the Faversham Society, and I have extensively researched the Nash family up to the present day, including the descendants of Edward and Mary. I am currently researching the Neville and Pomfret ancestors of Mary.
Hello....... I do appreciate your message and for the information enclosed.
Edward Nash was also my great great grandfather. My line is through Edward, son Henry, son George and then my father Joseph Robert Nash.
I have just ordered your book and I'm looking forward to some interesting reading.
I have been looking into my family tree for some time now and its interesting to know there are other Nash's out there looking. I have only made contact with two up to now as I'm afraid there must have been a rift in the family, my father never had contact with any of his siblings so I know of no Nash relations.
Many thanks for your post.
Best regards............................ Leslie Nash. b1933.

Hello-welcome to the family! After leaving Goodnestone,Edward and Mary had more children -Henry Newton Nash (1820 Broadstairs) named after his mother's grandparents, Charles (1822 Rainham),Mary Neville (1826 Poole) and my great grandfather Josiah Neville (1828 Lymington).Henry married Amelia Baker(1840 Greenwich) but died in St Bartholomews hospital in 1849 - his death certificate cites tetanus following a compound fracture of the leg after falling from a chaise in Goswell Street 6 weeks earlier.Brother Charles emigrated to Peru in 1836,brother E.dward was an official at HM Treasury for 75 years. There is considerable information about Edward and Mary,John Budds, and family members Edward,Charles and of course Josiah in various chapters of my privately published book on the history of the Nash family. Regards David Nash Mills b1930
Hi Cousin........ Thanks for the info. Some of it I already knew but I didn't know that Edward and Mary had more children other than Henry, some more avenues to search...!!
